A Journey Through Words
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I’ve spent over four decades on the bleeding edge of technology, from the days when keypunches were constant noise in computer labs to today’s neural networks that mimic human thought. My journey began in the 1960s when I used short wave radios to listen in on broadcasts and disassembled vacuum tube televisions in my dad’s workshop, I still have one of those old vacuum tube TVs, just to understand how things worked.
At North Carolina State University, I started in Electrical Engineering before finding my passion in Computer Science. Since then, I’ve witnessed, and sometimes helped shape, many major computing revolutions: batch processing, cartographic applications, client-server architecture, Java’s birth, the first mobile prototypes, the internet’s explosive growth, software and financial services, fraud detection, and now AI’s upheaval.
My work has taken me across continents, from Silicon Valley to Beijing collaborating with innovators across disciplines building the digital world we all now inhabit.
During these decades I’ve devoured thousands of books across countless genres. This intersection, where hardcore technical knowledge meets narrative imagination, is where my fiction lives.
